I enjoyed the beach day with my class. especially the flags competition. (see Beach Day! blog.)

Beach Day!

On Tuesday, my class and I went to the beach to learn about beach safety and to have some fun.

When we got There, I immediately recognised some faces (Soph-Rose, Lisa, Damien and Cassie) since my dad is part of SLSC Otaki himself. We then went upstairs to start the tour around the Surf club. Soon after, We did CPR on dummies.

After that, We had morning tea for a quarter hour. Soon after, The class went back inside to learn about rips. Josh and I though, had learnt about them a few weeks before, when my dad went to scouts.

Then, we went outside to do a rubbish collection contest. we split into 4 groups for 1/2 an hour to collect the most rubbish. the victorious team would get a prize. my group had Hemi, Simon, Josh, Ben Daemin and myself (obviously) in it.most groups got half a bag to a full bag. our team got 3-5 bags!

Next we did a challenge to see who could eat a Weet-Bix the fastest. The victors were Lee, Eden and Koya. Next, We did a human pyramid challenge. our team came 2nd out of 2 teams. Then we did a challenge to see who could say chubby bunny with an increasing amount of marshmallows in one's mouth. the few people who failed included Josh then myself.

After Lunch, We did a game of flags. I came 3rd. When we went for a swim, I RAN to get a boogie-board. I was left disappointed though, as the waves were pretty bad for boogie-boarding.

The beach day was pretty fun, though I didn't learn anything and I lost the Weet-Bix Challenge(I had been prepping for it my whole life!! (almost)). but, at the end, I'm pretty satisfied.

R.O.A.R Expectations.

We have ROAR to inform students and teachers at Otaki College of what their expectations are. It is important that it is Upheld to keep members of OC in check of their behaviour.

R=Respect. Respect is listening to your teacher, especially if he or she is a reliever.

O=OC pride. OC Pride is showing that you are proud to be part of this College by wearing uniform.

A=Active Learner. Active Learner is being on task and not straying from it.

R=Responsibility. Responsibility is Bringing your Chromebook to school charged and having the right gear.

Labour weekend.

Labour weekend.

Day.1

I wake up and have Bacon and Eggs on toast with the family watching Hyundai country calendar. I help my dad make a new gate post. I then go to my Auntie's house because my parents are going to a wedding. I watch the game and to be honest, it was pretty disappointing with the All Black dropping the ball left, right and centre.

Day.2

Not much happens on Sunday. my sister (Jorgia) calls her friend Jeana over for a sleepover. They also plan for Jorgia's Birthday party this weekend. I consider going to Ollie's house, but he didn't feel like it.

Day.3

I decide to getaway from Jorgia and Jeana. I go to Dragans place and we do a build battle on Minecraft. I build a mansion and he build a.... runway. when Dragans dad kicks us out of his house, we go to Leithan's house to hang. Then his mum kicks us out. Some how I get separated from Dragan and Leithan. we spend an hour finding each other. When we do, we all go back to Dragans house until 5:00. at 5 Leithan and I have to go home.

The weekend was somewhat interesting and it was great to get out and about.It was also unfortunate that I couldn't find any money to spend on food. But, I survived. So I hope to do it again.

Organising my weekend.

On Tuesday, I started planning a weekend with my friends, Dragan & Ollie. we were planning to do a bike ride in Waikanae. Dragans dad was going to take us there.

On Thursday, Ollie Said that he couldn't come due to a wedding that was on that weekend. I said that I could still come though. Friday unfortunately, presented a problem.

My paper run came on Friday, so I had to find a way around that. I did most of it that day, and promised to finish it by 12:00 on Sunday.

Saturday had arrived and I met Dragan at his house At 11:30. We had lunch, while Dragans dad Prepared the transport. Dragans sister had a friend around, so we had 6 bikes to transport.

We biked on the highway from Harrison's Cafe, to the Waikanae Exit. from there we went to Waikanae beach, then to Peka Peka & finally back to the car.I was shattered.

The bike ride was really fun even though it took a lot of work to plan and didn't work out exactly the way I wanted it to.

Math reflection

1: Thing I've learnt= That I need harder questions to solve.
1: Thing I need to work on=My presenting skills because I only really know hot to present it.
Skills I have used in my P.S group=Addition.

1. One thing that you have learned about in school this term that has been helpful=Math, because I intend to Become an engineer.
2. One thing that you want to improve in you learning=Writing. I can definitely improve with my words per minute.
3. One thing that you have enjoyed this term in your Learning=Reading. I love everything about it. nothing in particular I enjoy the most.

The plane from Wellington to Nadi,Fiji.

On the plane trip to Fiji, My seat was 16E. my cousin Quinn was 16F (so he had the window seat) and my Granddad had 16D. Granddad made us look at the safety flyer the moment we sat down. after we saw the safety briefing, I decided to watch Captain Marvel and play some games.

The in-flight breakfast tasted very strange. I had scrambled eggs, wedges and chicken. The view was amazing when we were near Fiji. you could see the sugar-cane fires blazing even from up there.

The flight overall was pretty satisfying. from the entertainment to the plane itself.

The teacher strike.

1 Q: Why did I have a day off on strike day?
1 A: Because there was no one to teach children.

2 Q: Give two reasons why teachers striked.
2 A: ignorance from Parliament & a small payload.

3 Q: Do you agree or disagree? tell us why.
3 A: I agree because teachers are vital to the modern world! (and I get to do fun stuff on teacher only days).

Maoriland film festival visit.

Today the year 7,8, and 9 syndicates went to the Maoriland film festival at Nga Purapura. Because there were so many, i'll just tell you my fave 5.

Number 5 on this list goes to "The Man They Call Fuel or TMTCF for short (LOL I just made that up).

The science roadshow

A week ago, my school was visited by the science roadshow. they have HEAPS of cool experiments that you can do. e.g. bed of nails. there were also four certain experiments (marked with a yellow flag) that can help you win a prize. what you need to do is grab a card, explain how the experiments work, and get a stamp on your card. every half hour or so, the kids got together and watched the host's do cool stuff with science. then you go back to class.

Commemoration day!

Commemoration day!

On Monday 11th March 2019, there was a commemoration day held to remember the sinking of the SS OTAKI. The first thing that happened was the Powhiri for the visiting people including Gurunathan, the mayor of the Kapiti Coast.

 Then came the wreath-laying. A few year 7/8 students were chosen to do so.

When the wreath laying was finished, the flags went to half mast and we remembered those who had fallen before us.

1 minute later the flag went back up, The Last Post was sang, and then we had a prayer to finish it all off.

Something I learnt was a new song.

Something I liked was listening to the history.
